Scribbles Drawing for Mac

If you're a regular reader of my blog you know i like inexpensive and free drawing applications. I've raved about Rita, ArtRage and Tablet Draw. Today a new inexpensive ($20) Mac drawing application was released, Scribbles. It's something like a cross between Rita and ArtRage and it is fun as hell to use. Check out the free demo and have fun.

The Perfect Holiday Gift!

The Artist Within by Greg Preston
I stopped by the local library yesterday to pick up a copy of Richard Matheson's I Am Legend (i want to read the book before the Will Smith movie comes out - I saw the Charlton Heston version The Omega Man back when it came out, but honestly I don't remember much about it). While at the library I saw a book on the new releases display that blew me away, The Artist Within by Greg Preston. This coffee table photo book features lovely portraits of several generations of American cartoonists. The portraits are usually shot in artist's studio, which is the most intimate and revealing part. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys comic books, comic strips and animation.

Blast from the Past

It's amazing what still exists on the web. I was looking for some information about myself on the web. Google brought up a link to the great web site by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennet. I had done a small interactive promotional piece for them over 10 years ago to promote their Heartbreakers comic book. On the link page of their web site, Big Red Hair, they had a link to my old AOL home page web site. Instantly I thought, "Oh, my god, that's a dead link." I haven't updated that site in 12 years. I dropped AOL 4 years ago. But, to my surprise and embarassment that site is still live on the web in all it's 8-bit GIF glory!

Enjoy.
