Truth be told, I rarely make it to a comic book store any more. I lived in Chicago for 20 years and had access to some of the very best comic book shops in the world, but in the last 5 years I rarely went to a comic book store. Basicly I made an annual pilgrimage to the store to see what was new, which usually resulted in one purchase and that was usually a Marvel or DC comic. I respect and like a lot of the work from other publishers and the alternative press, but the truth is I grew up on DC and Marvel and I'm a junkie. I need my DC/Marvel fix. Sad. But true.
Now I live in the boonies of Montana. Well, OK. Not THE boonies. The town is small but cosmopolitan and artsy, but still not a single comic book shot within 100 miles. So the web is my mainline to comics. As a result I've put some serious time into tracking down web comics that I like. Right now there are only two. Both at the wonderful
Transmission-X site.
The first is the brilliant
Kukuburi by Ramon Perez. The second is the lovely and charming
Luz by Claudia Dávila.
